Last month I had the opportunity to dress in period dress and knit at the local museum so that visitors could see the past come alive. Having no antique clothes to wear for the event, I turned to etsy.com where costumers from all over the globe offer well-made, accurate costumes.

I knitted the shawl to go with the gown, and I thought the result was an accurate picture of a woman from the 1820s, especially paired with my basket of yarn and straight, wooden knitting needles.

Etsy is a great place to find anything you need, and the shops are stocked by every kind of human. I particularly like to see men doing crafts that are not considered normal for men.
